RCSI Bahrain Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland

Making a Difference Internationally

As an RCSI student or staff member you have the opportunity to travel to different parts of the world and help develop health in badly needed areas. RCSI currently works in 60 countries, and has 14,000 graduates working in healthcare all over the globe. Whether on an individual or institutional basis, students faculty in RCSI are active in many developing countries, directly delivering much-needed healthcare services, and also assisting with the education of healthcare professionals in these countries. We offer students the opportunity to travel to developing countries and be involved with hands-on medical care as an elective element of their studies. Locations currently include:

  • Lesotho
  • Delhi
  • Chennai
  • Vietnam

Building on this legacy, as part of our Strategic Plan 2012-2017, RCSI Bahrain has specific goals to expand our International Charity Work – with strides already made in these areas - specifically by:

  • Co-operating with a health focused institution in a neighbouring developing country to initiate local measures to support and sustain healthcare there
  • Co-operating with international charitable organisations to donate expertise in faculty and students to focus on healthcare projects within neighbouring developing countries
