Applicants are selected for admission to the BSc in Nursing on the basis of open competition using the following criteria:
• Basic eligibility, i.e. achievement of minimum academic and English language entry requirements.
• References and life experience, i.e. work / life balance, extracurricular activities, relevant work or voluntary experience, etc.
• Performance at a structured interview.
The following requirements are the minimum standards required for consideration for entry into the BSc in Nursing Programme for the Academic Year 2017/2018. Attainment of these grades does not guarantee acceptance. Admission to the programme is at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.
English Language Entry Requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English, or who have not been educated solely in a native English speaking country must satisfy an English language proficiency requirement. Upon successful completion of the online application form, the admissions team will schedule the applicant for an English examination at RCSI Bahrain. Additional information on this exam is available here. If valid IELTS / TOEFL results are provided, they will be reviewed by the admissions committee to assess if the applicant can be exempt from the entrance English examination.
Please note: English language qualifications are only valid for two years from the date of the test.
Exemptions: Applicants who have been solely educated in a native English speaking country and / or those who have completed the following curricula may be exempted from the English language requirement: Applicants should make contact with the Admissions Office to confirm eligibility for an exemption
IB Diploma Minimum score of 5 in Standard or Higher Level English.
(I)GCSE/GCE Minimum score of Grade C in English.
Irish Leaving Certificate Minimum score of Grade D in Ordinary Level English.
Academic Entry Requirements
Please note: All applicants must have completed at least 12 years of schooling by the end of secondary school education.
Secondary School Leaving Certificate
Applicants must have completed at least 12 years of schooling by the end of secondary school education within the Science or Commercial Stream and achieve a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (cGPA) of 80%.
Applicants must present a minimum of two A-levels or four AS-Levels with minimum grades of C from subjects within the science stream. All applicants must also have completed a minimum of 6 subjects at GCSE level.
American High School Diploma
Applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 years of schooling by the end of secondary school education and achieve a minimum unweighted cumulative Grade Point Average (cGPA) of 80% (calculated over Grades 10, 11 & 12).
Indian High School
Applicants must achieve a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (cGPA) of 70% at standard XII and hold a bone-fide certificate of completion issued by the CBSE or ISCE.
