RCSI Bahrain Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland

Foundation Year

The Foundation Year curriculum is aimed at students who wish to enter RCSI’s undergraduate programme in medicine, directly from high school, or with primary degrees in unrelated disciplines.

On successful completion of Foundation Year, students will progress to the Junior Cycle of the 5-year programme. The focus of Foundation Year is to provide students with a grounding in Human Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and to enhance the academic skills and attitudes required for progression through the subsequent years of the programme. You will learn through a combination of lectures, workshops, tutorials, small group teaching and laboratory practical classes.

You will be allocated a personal tutor to support you throughout the year. In addition you will have access to our dedicated Student Welfare service which provides an open, caring and confidential support service to all RCSI students.

During Foundation Year you will join our RCSI student community and be able to enjoy all the facilities that College provides. We hope that you will experience a real sense of collegiality.
